The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has introduced a new regulation requiring foreign medical graduates to obtain provisional registration before beginning their mandatory house job in Pakistan.
According to PMDC, no house job will be permitted without provisional registration, and any ongoing house job lacking this requirement must be halted immediately. The council has issued a formal notification to all public and private medical colleges, teaching hospitals, and healthcare institutions nationwide.

Institutions have been directed to verify PMDC provisional registration before allowing foreign graduates to join house job programs. PMDC warned that non-compliance may result in disciplinary or regulatory action against the institutions involved.
The council stated that the new rule aims to standardize medical training, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain professional and clinical standards across the healthcare system.
Foreign medical graduates have been advised to complete the provisional registration process well in advance to avoid delays in their training and professional progression in Pakistan.
