QUETTA (Web Desk): Winter school vacations will start from 16 December in Balochistan, creating curiosity as students rush to finish exams before the long closure.

Officials confirmed that government schools in the cold regions of Balochistan will go on a two-and-a-half-month winter break from 16 December. These long holidays are given every year to protect children from severe weather conditions.

In Chaman, annual exams for junior classes have already started, signalling a busy academic period before the extended winter break. Students and teachers are trying to complete coursework quickly.

According to the Education Department, exams for classes one to seven began on 16 November and will continue until 24 November in all government schools of Chaman.

The department also confirmed that class eight exams will start on 24 November. These will be conducted under the Balochistan Board, which supervises middle school examinations across the province.

Officials added that schools will reopen only when the temperature improves enough to allow a safe learning environment for students.

Education experts say the long winter break is necessary for student safety in extreme cold. They point out that compressed exam schedules create pressure but help keep the academic year on track. They also note that reopening dates tied to temperature changes show a flexible but practical approach. The situation highlights the balance schools must maintain between safety and academic continuity.
