Security forces carried out multiple major operations across the Bannu region over the past 24 hours, resulting in the killing of 17 militants — including three key commanders — and injuring several others, according to a police spokesperson. The coordinated actions were conducted by the police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Quick Response Force, and other security units.
Officials confirmed that all personnel involved in the operations remained safe, while local residents extended full cooperation to the forces. A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain militants, delivering a significant blow to the local network of the outlawed militant group.
In Shiri Khel and Pakka Pahar Khel, 10 militants were killed, five injured, and one facilitator arrested during a joint operation by Lakki Police, CTD Bannu, and security forces. Police recovered the bodies of seven militants, while three bodies could not be retrieved due to the difficult mountainous terrain.
Among those killed were two highly wanted commanders — Niaz Ali alias Akasha and Abdullah alias Shipunkoi — both considered dangerous leaders of the militant faction.
Another operation in Nasar Khel, conducted by Lakki Police, CTD, and local peace committee members, resulted in the killing of a wanted militant. In Hoiwad area, militants attempted to attack police and local peace committees but fled after forces retaliated. Police described this as a joint success of security personnel and local residents.
