(Web Desk): The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast the 11th spell of monsoon rains across the province, warning of possible flooding in rivers and urban areas between September 16 and 19.

According to the PDMA, heavy rains are expected in the upper catchment areas of rivers as well as several cities of Punjab. An alert has been issued to all commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure precautionary measures are in place.

DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia cautioned that heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods in streams and seasonal nullahs. He said the provincial government has directed all relevant institutions to remain on high alert to prevent loss of life and property.

Acting on the instructions of Punjab’s Chief Minister, departments including Health, Irrigation, Communication & Works, Local Government and Livestock have been placed on standby to respond to any emergency situation.
