
As per the announcement, public schools across Punjab will remain closed on Saturdays as well.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the news and said Saturday’s holiday will be reserved for teachers’ training.

He pointed out the workload on public school teachers is quite high, adding the purpose of two weekly holidays is to reduce the workload on teachers.
He further said classes will be held in public schools from Monday to Friday, adding the teaching hours will also be increased to improve the quality of education.
“Allocating Saturdays for teachers’ training is very important for the professional development of teachers,” the education minister maintained.
He termed the initiative an important effort to reduce the professional burden of teachers.
Under the new schedule, academic activities in government schools across Punjab will continue from Monday to Friday, and teachers will focus on their professional training on Saturdays.
The purpose of this decision is to make the education system more effective and efficient to provide quality education to the students, official sources said.
A full day dedicated to teachers’ training will prove to be very beneficial in enhancing their professional skills, they added.
