Punjab announces early summer vacations in educational institutions
Good news for students of educational institutions across Punjab. The provincial government has officially announced summer vacations from May 28.

According to the Punjab Education Minister, summer vacations will begin in all public and private schools across the province from May 28, 2025. The main reason for this decision is the ongoing severe heat wave in the country, which may affect the health and safety of students.

The Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the welfare, health and safety of children so that they can be protected from the severity of the weather. During the holidays, parents and students have been instructed to continue educational activities at the home level.

Along with this, the Punjab Education Minister has also announced a change in the working hours of schools up till May 27.  Now, schools will open from 7:30 am to 11:30 am so that children can avoid the intense heat of the afternoon. The new schedule will come into effect immediately.

Earlier, the Education Minister had indicated that the final decision regarding the summer vacations would be taken in three to four days, and would be announced after consulting various stakeholders. He also clarified that if the heat intensity increases further, the vacation dates may be changed.

The Education Minister said that currently teaching activities in schools are continuing as usual and the government is trying to remedy the educational losses caused by the Corona epidemic and other factors. He said that we do not want learning losses to increase further, but the safety of children is the first priority.

Finally, he appealed to parents to follow the precautionary measures given by the Department of Education during the heat wave, dress children in light clothing, increase their water intake, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun so that they can stay safe from the extreme weather
