Recently, a video is making rounds on social media featuring a lecturer insulting the student for not bringing his own laptop to the class.
Lecturer Dr. Mohammad Tayyab Chaudhry reprimanded a student for attending class without a laptop and shamelessly insulted the student’s father in front of peers. Following this, the teacher allegedly forced the student to call his elder brother during class and instructed him to secure a laptop using zakat (charity funds) — a remark many students deemed insensitive and humiliating.
The confrontation was reportedly recorded by a fellow student, and the footage has since spread among the student body, sparking widespread shock and concern. Several students have come forward, saying the lecturer has a history of inappropriate behavior that the university administration has yet to address.
Dr. Tayyab Chaudhry asked the student (topper) why he doesn’t have his own laptop as he had shown up with a borrowed laptop. The student explained that he doesn’t have his own laptop and has been borrowing his brother’s, to which Dr. Tayyab aggressively replied, “Your dad can’t buy you a laptop?” The student, in deep remorse, silently said that his dad is dead. After hearing that, Dr. Tayyab didn’t stop; he further insulted him by saying, “Do you have a brother or has he already died as well?” “Get the laptop from Zakat (charity) fund.”

After this, the entire class stood up in solidarity against Dr. Tayyab’s insolence and, in an act of revenge, they dropped the entire class’s grades.
This case highlights faculty misconduct, harassment, classroom ethics, and the mental well-being of students in educational institutes of Pakistan. As the video continues to circulate online, many are urging the university administration to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.
