Pakistan imports over 157,000 vehicles in last 5 and a half years

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Pakistan has imported 157,960 used vehicles in the last five and a half years, while local manufacturers have exported only 248 vehicles abroad during this period.

Of the used vehicles imported, 19,392 were imported in 2020, 36,373 in 2021, 20,173 in 2022, 19,523 in 2023, 38,472 in 2024, and 24,020 used vehicles were imported in the first 6 months of 2025 until June 30.

According to sources, the most used vehicles were imported from Japan, with a total of 155,288 vehicles, followed by 1,085 from Jamaica, 865 from the UK, 257 from Germany, 173 from Jordan, 79 from the US and 65 from China.

Local vehicle manufacturing companies exported 20 vehicles in 2021, 19 in 2022, 47 in 2023, 70 in 2024, and 92 in 2025.

Among the countries to which vehicles have been exported, 151 were exported to Japan, 20 to Kenya, 26 to Solomon Islands, 15 to Thailand, and other countries.
