LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is set to officially launch the province-wide laptop distribution initiative for students, starting today (Wednesday).

The inaugural ceremony of the laptop scheme will be held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in Lahore, with Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also in attendance.

According to the education minister, 21,000 students in Lahore alone will receive laptops, while a total of 110,000 laptops will be distributed to students across public sector universities and colleges throughout the province.

Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasised that the distribution drive is not limited to Lahore. Ceremonies will be held in all divisions of Punjab, where Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will personally hand out laptops to students.

The initiative aims to equip the youth with modern educational tools to enhance their academic and research capabilities.

He further stated that the laptops are equipped with up-to-date technology, tailored to meet the demands of the digital age. Maryam Nawaz’s effort reflects not only a major step forward in educational advancement but also a move to restore confidence among the youth.

Few days ago, the federal government officially opened registrations for the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme to empower hardworking and talented students through access to technology.

Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan announced that 100,000 laptops will be distributed across the country on the basis of merit.
