Sindh restores six-day school week from August 1, 2026
The Sindh government has restored a six-day school week, ending the weekly Saturday holiday for public and private schools and colleges across the province.
The new schedule will begin on August 1, 2026, which also marks the start of the new academic year.
Under the revised timetable, educational institutions will remain open from Monday to Saturday. Regular teaching activities and classes will now be held on all six working days.
Saturday classes return across Sindh
The Sindh Education Department issued a notification directing schools and colleges to follow the new schedule.
The order applies to both public and private educational institutions across the province. Managements have been instructed to ensure regular classes take place on Saturdays.
The move means students and teachers will no longer have Saturday as a weekly holiday.
The government has also asked educational institutions to strictly follow the revised timetable and avoid disruptions in academic activities.
The decision comes as schools prepare to reopen following the summer break.
Summer vacations end on July 31
The Sindh government had earlier announced summer vacations for public and private educational institutions from June 1 to July 31, 2026.
With the holidays ending on July 31, the new academic year will begin under the six-day working schedule.
Students are therefore expected to return to classrooms from August 1, while Saturday will become a regular teaching day.
The change is expected to affect school and college routines across Sindh, including the weekly schedules of students, teachers and administrative staff.
Educational institutions have been told to make the necessary arrangements before the revised schedule takes effect.
