Sindh announces new college timings across the province
Six-day working week restored
According to an official notification issued on July 30, the department has withdrawn its earlier order issued on March 31, 2026. As a result, all public and private colleges will now operate from Monday to Saturday.
Officials said the revised schedule is aimed at improving academic activities and ensuring the effective implementation of the academic calendar across colleges in Sindh.
New morning college timings
Monday to Thursday and Saturday
Under the revised schedule, morning-shift colleges will operate from 8:30am to 1:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Friday timings
On Fridays, morning classes will be held from 8:30am to 11:30am.
The shorter schedule has been introduced to accommodate Friday prayers while ensuring that academic activities continue without disruption.

Revised evening college timings
The College Education Department has also announced new timings for evening-shift colleges.
Evening classes will be held from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
On Fridays, evening classes will run from 2:30pm to 5:00pm.
Officials have directed all institutions to strictly follow the revised timings.
Notification issued by the Sindh government
The notification was signed by Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon, Secretary to the Government of Sindh.
The College Education Department has instructed the Director General Colleges Sindh, regional directors and other relevant officials to circulate the notification and ensure its implementation across all public and private colleges.
Authorities have also directed educational institutions to inform students, teachers and administrative staff about the revised schedule before it comes into effect.
What students and teachers should know
Students are advised to check the updated timetable issued by their respective colleges and attend classes according to the new schedule.

Teachers and college administrations have also been instructed to ensure the smooth implementation of the revised working hours from the first day of the new schedule. Officials said the revised timings will remain in effect until the College Education Department issues further instructions.
Why has the schedule changed
The College Education Department has not provided detailed reasons for restoring the six-day working week.
However, officials said the revised schedule is intended to improve the management of academic activities and maintain consistency in teaching throughout the academic year. Students and parents are encouraged to stay informed through official notifications issued by the department for any future changes.
