Sikh student creates history with top position in Lahore Board Matric exams
A Sikh student has created history in the Lahore Board Matric Result 2026 by securing a top position for the first time, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan's minority community.
Onkar Singh scored 1,189 marks in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations to secure second position in the Science Group (Boys) under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore.
His achievement has drawn widespread appreciation, highlighting academic excellence and the growing participation of minority students in Pakistan's education system.
Onkar Singh aims to become a doctor
Speaking after the announcement of the results, Onkar Singh said he hopes to pursue a career in medicine and become a doctor to serve humanity.
He credited his success to hard work, the prayers of his parents and the guidance of his teachers.
"I want to study medicine and serve people through the medical profession," he said while expressing gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his academic journey.
Calls for education reforms and more job opportunities
Along with celebrating his achievement, Onkar Singh also shared his views on Pakistan's education system.
He said there is a need for further reforms to improve the quality of education and ensure students receive better learning opportunities.
He also urged the government to create more employment opportunities for young people, saying that addressing unemployment should remain a national priority.

Onkar Singh said members of minority communities in Pakistan enjoy religious freedom and protection, adding that he has always received encouragement to pursue his education.
