Lahore tuition centre roof collapse leaves 14 children dead
A heartbreaking incident took place in Lahore’s Kahna area, where the roof of a tuition centre operating inside a house collapsed. More than 20 children and a teacher were trapped under the debris when the roof gave way.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the accident. Emergency workers started rescue operations and shifted the injured children to nearby hospitals.
According to the Medical Superintendent of Kahna Hospital, 14 children lost their lives in the tragedy. The victims were between 8 and 10 years old, while the condition of 8 to 10 injured children was reported to be critical.
Hospital officials said the deceased included eight girls and six boys. The victims included 7-year-old Mah Noor, 7-year-old Rimsha, 6-year-old Tabisha, 16-year-old Khadija, 8-year-old Fawad, 9-year-old Ghulam Nabi and 5-year-old Murtaza.

According to THQ Hospital Kahna, six injured children are now out of danger. The injured include 8-year-old Abiha, 10-year-old Fariya, 11-year-old Murtaza, 8-year-old Ayan, 7-year-old Rabia and 30-year-old Hameeda Rehan.
Rescue officials said the collapsed roof had been constructed using TR girders. They added that the full extent of the damage would be determined after rescue and clearance operations are completed.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the tragic incident and called for a detailed report. She also directed provincial ministers to visit the accident site and monitor the rescue efforts.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of young lives. He prayed for the departed children, offered condolences to their families and directed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured.
The tragedy has raised serious concerns about the safety of buildings being used as private tuition centres. A thorough investigation will be important to determine the cause of the collapse and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
