Lahore (Web Desk): The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore will announce this year's annual matric examination results for Classes 9 and 10 on August 6, 2026, at 10 am, along with other boards across Punjab.

A province-wide announcement

BISE Lahore's results will be released simultaneously with those of eight other Punjab boards, including Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, under the coordination of the Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen. More than 850,000 SSC candidates sat for exams across these nine boards this year, with the Lahore Board alone accounting for well over 300,000 of them, making it the largest matriculation board in the country.

BISE Lahore oversees examinations for four districts: Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib.

How students can check their results

Once declared, results will be available through the official BISE Lahore result portal, where students can search using their roll number or, for those who have misplaced their number slip, by name. For times when the website slows down under heavy traffic, the board also offers an SMS checking service, with students able to send their roll number to code 800291 to receive their result directly.

The board is also expected to publish a downloadable result gazette in PDF format shortly after the official announcement, along with the names of this year's top three position holders, which are typically released a day ahead of the general result.

Passing criteria for this year

Under the current policy set by the Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen, students must secure at least 33 percent marks in both the theory and practical components of each subject to be declared successful. Those who fall short in even one subject will need to sit supplementary examinations later in the year. A further change to the passing threshold, raising it to 40 percent, has already been approved but will only take effect from the 2027 examination cycle onward, meaning this year's results will still be assessed under the existing 33 percent standard.

Class 10 students sit seven subjects under the current scheme, with total marks set at 1,100 and grades ranging from A+ down to E based on overall percentage.

What comes next for students

Once results are out, successful Class 9 students will move on to their final year of matriculation, while Class 10 graduates will be able to pursue admission into intermediate colleges and other higher secondary institutions. Students unhappy with a particular subject score will also have the option to apply for rechecking through the board's online portal, submitting their request along with the prescribed fee before the stated deadline.

Education officials continue to stress that board results reflect one stage of a student's academic journey rather than a final verdict on their abilities, with supplementary exams and improvement opportunities built into the system for those who fall short this time around.
