Scholarship programme announced
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has started accepting applications under the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship for Central Asia and Friendly Countries. The programme offers fully funded Bachelor’s degree opportunities at public sector universities across Pakistan.
The initiative is aimed at students from Central Asia and other friendly countries. It seeks to promote higher education while strengthening educational cooperation with Pakistan.
What benefits will selected students receive?
Students selected under the scholarship will receive full tuition fee coverage throughout their studies. They will also get free accommodation and a monthly stipend.
The scholarship further includes one-time travel and airfare during the degree programme. Successful candidates will also receive a settlement allowance after arriving in Pakistan.
Study programmes available
Applicants can choose from a wide range of undergraduate disciplines. These include Engineering and Technology, Computer Science and Information Technology, Allied Health Sciences, Business and Economics, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Food Security, International Relations, Media Studies and Languages.
The variety of academic fields allows students to apply according to their interests. It also gives them the opportunity to study in recognised public universities across Pakistan.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must have completed GCE A Levels or an equivalent qualification with at least 60% marks. Candidates applying for Engineering programmes must have secured at least 65% marks.
Selected students will also be required to obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) Pakistan. This process must be completed after receiving the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship.

Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official HEC scholarship portal. They should carefully review the eligibility criteria, required documents and application procedure before applying.
HEC has advised applicants to complete and submit the online application before the deadline of 10 August 2026. Incomplete or late applications may not be accepted.
