HEC announces mandatory special test for Commonwealth Scholarship 2026 applicants
According to HEC, the special HAT test will be mandatory for candidates seeking admission to MS, MPhil, and PhD scholarship programmes under the HEC Commonwealth Scholarship 2026 and Chinese Government Scholarship schemes.
Online registration for the special HAT test will begin on July 19, 2026. Applicants will be able to complete their registration until August 3, 2026 through the official HEC online portal.
HEC said the special HAT test will be held on August 30, 2026. The examination will be conducted by the Education Testing Council (ETC), which manages HEC’s testing process.
Officials clarified that no candidate applying for the HEC Commonwealth Scholarship 2026 or Chinese Government scholarships will be considered without taking this mandatory test.
Students have been advised to complete their registration before the deadline to avoid missing the opportunity.
According to HEC, the purpose of the special HAT test is to assess the academic ability and eligibility of applicants so that scholarship recipients can be selected purely on merit.

The HEC Commonwealth Scholarship 2026 and Chinese Government Scholarship programmes provide Pakistani students with opportunities to pursue higher education abroad in a wide range of academic fields.
Successful candidates can study for Master’s, MPhil, and PhD degrees at international universities.
HEC has also advised all interested students to carefully follow the registration instructions, test schedule, and other official guidelines issued by the commission to ensure their applications are completed correctly and on time.
