Nine suspects killed, two police officials injured in Punjab CCD encounters
At least nine suspects were killed and two police officers injured in multiple encounters with the Crime Control Department (CCD) across different areas of Punjab on Tuesday, police said. In Lahore, six suspects were killed in separate operations carried out by CCD teams in different locations.
In the Sundar area, police said a CCD team raided a location based on information about wanted robbers. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, injuring two constables identified as Tasawar and Namdar.
Police responded with retaliatory fire, killing two suspects on the spot. They were later identified as Alam Sher and Hashim, who were reportedly wanted in more than 60 criminal cases.
In another incident in Iqbal Town, CCD officials said two suspects, Bilal alias Mota and Danish, were being taken for recovery of stolen goods when their accomplices attacked the police van.

During the exchange of fire, both suspects in custody were killed. Police said they were likely hit by bullets fired by their own accomplices during the attack.
In a separate encounter in DHA, police reported that three motorcyclists opened fire when they were signalled to stop at a checkpoint. Security forces returned fire, killing two suspects, while one managed to escape.
Police have shifted all bodies to a morgue for postmortem examination. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of each incident. Authorities said operations against criminal groups will continue across Punjab to maintain law and order, and further arrests are expected in the coming days.
