How to store qurbani meat safely during Eid-ul-Azha?
According to specialists, refrigerators should be cleaned thoroughly before Eid to create a safe environment for food storage. They recommend emptying the fridge a few days ahead of the occasion and discarding expired or unnecessary items to make enough space for Qurbani meat.
Experts suggest using a cleaning solution made of lukewarm water, soap, lemon juice, and baking soda to remove stains, eliminate germs, and neutralize bad smells. After washing, all shelves and compartments should be dried properly to avoid moisture buildup inside the refrigerator.
They further advise families to wash meat carefully, allow excess water to dry completely, and divide it into smaller portions before refrigeration. Storing meat in airtight containers or sealed plastic bags can help prevent leakage, contamination, and odor mixing with other food items.
Health professionals also discourage overloading refrigerators, as excessive storage can block airflow and reduce cooling efficiency. Proper arrangement of meat allows even cooling and helps preserve freshness for a longer period.
