Punjab issues health alert over harmful medicine batches
The Health and Population Department has warned that specific batches of three medicines may pose risks to patients and should be immediately removed from the market.
Medicines Under Alert
The affected drugs include sufiferazone sodium, mecobalamin, and dexamethasone. Health officials stated that while these medicines are widely used for treatment, the flagged batches have been declared unsafe.
Sufiferazone sodium is generally used as an antibiotic for treating infections. Mecobalamin is commonly prescribed for anemia and nerve-related conditions, while dexamethasone is used to treat allergies and inflammation.
Public Safety Measures
Authorities have instructed pharmacies and distributors to withdraw the harmful batches from circulation immediately. Patients who are currently using these medicines have been advised to consult their doctors before continuing treatment.
Health experts emphasize that improper or contaminated medicine batches can lead to serious side effects and complications, especially for patients already suffering from infections, anemia, or allergic conditions.
