Islamabad 167-bed Margalla Hospital set to reopen with free treatment
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate the facility, which had remained inactive for several years.
Margalla Hospital to Resume Healthcare Services
The reopening of Margalla Hospital is expected to expand access to free healthcare in Islamabad and nearby areas. Patients will be able to receive diagnostic tests, medical treatment and surgical services without paying for these services.
The facility had remained non-functional for several years. Its return to service is intended to make healthcare more accessible to people who need medical assistance.
Partnership With Indus Hospital and Health Network
Margalla Hospital will operate in partnership with the Indus Hospital and Health Network, a philanthropic healthcare organisation. The partnership is expected to support the delivery of medical services to patients.
The arrangement will bring together public-sector resources and the organisation’s healthcare experience. Officials expect this cooperation to help improve services at the hospital.
Health Minister Reviews Opening Preparations
Federal Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal chaired a meeting to review preparations for the hospital’s inauguration. Senior officials from the health ministry also attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on arrangements for bringing the hospital into operation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to formally inaugurate the facility this week.
Hospital Expected to Reduce Pressure on Major Facilities
Mustafa Kamal said the hospital would help reduce the burden on major hospitals in Islamabad. He also said it would improve access to healthcare for residents of the capital and nearby areas.
The minister highlighted the partnership as a way to improve public services and make better use of available resources. The hospital’s impact will depend on the availability of staff, facilities and timely medical services once it begins operating.
The reopening of Margalla Hospital could give patients another option for free medical care in Islamabad. It may also ease pressure on other hospitals, provided the facility can deliver services effectively and consistently.
