(Web Desk): The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has lodged a case against YouTubers Rajab Butt, Anas Ali, and Huraira for promoting gambling and illegal betting apps.

In its latest announcement, the NCCIA disclosed that there had been ongoing investigations for weeks, during which the suspects were issued three separate notices. Officials made it clear that despite summoning them multiple times, none of the YouTubers appeared before the inquiry committee. Due to this, the case was formally registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

Pakistan authorities have also added that the procedural steps are now in progress to return the accused to Pakistan for questioning. "We have taken legal and procedural action so they can be brought back," NCCIA officials said, emphasizing the gravity of the charges.

Based on the report, the range of the inquiry is also being extended further to determine other online influencers who promote betting websites. The agency emphasized that these activities not only contravene local laws but also deceive millions of young viewers, many of whom become victims of fake betting operations.

The crackdown follows the detention of well-known YouTuber Ducky Bhai, who had been detained earlier on similar charges of promoting betting applications. NCCIA s move suggests a larger campaign to monitor online content creators and rein in the online promotion of illegal financial transactions.

Authorities continue to assert that the investigations are ongoing and more arrests would take place in the days to come.
