(Web Desk): Erika Kirk forgives husband’s killer during emotional memorial for Charlie Kirk

At a deeply moving memorial service held Sunday at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, publicly forgave the man accused of taking her husband’s life.

“With tears in her eyes, Erika declared, ‘I forgive him’ — referring to 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the man authorities say fatally shot Kirk during a Turning Point USA event at a Utah university on September 10.”

Kirk, 31, was reportedly struck in the neck by a single bullet. While Robinson’s exact motive remains unclear, prosecutors revealed messages he allegedly sent to a transitioning partner, expressing anger toward Kirk’s rhetoric and saying he’d had “enough of [Kirk’s] hatred.”

Despite the devastating loss, Erika, 36, chose to lean on her Christian faith during her speech, describing her decision to forgive Robinson as something both her husband and Christ would have done. “Charlie’s mission was to reach young men—especially those lost in pain and confusion,” she said. “Even the one who took his life.”

Erika was recently named CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organization her husband founded. Speaking to a crowd of thousands, she emphasized that the group’s renewed mission would be to guide young people “away from misery and sin” and toward faith and purpose.

Recalling the harrowing day of the shooting, Erika described arriving at the Utah hospital and seeing Charlie’s body. “I saw the wound that ended his life,” she said, “but I also saw the faintest smile on his lips. That smile told me something powerful—that God showed mercy, that Charlie didn’t suffer. Even the doctor confirmed it.”

Now raising their two children without him, Erika said Charlie’s death sparked not a wave of vengeance, but a spiritual revival. She called on men across the country to take up her late husband’s mantle and become “the spiritual heads of their homes.”

After her tribute, Erika shared a heartfelt moment on stage with former President Donald Trump, who embraced her as she rested her head on his shoulder — drawing loud applause from the crowd.

Trump, delivering his own tribute, praised Charlie as a “missionary with a noble spirit,” though he joked about their political differences. “Charlie didn’t hate his opponents,” Trump said. “He wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagreed with him. I hate my opponents—I don’t want the best for them. I’m sorry.”
