Government College University (GCU) has announced a significant expansion of its Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program, increasing the intake capacity from 100 to 150 students. This development comes after the Pakistan Bar Council granted approval for an additional 50 seats, reflecting growing demand and the university’s commitment to supporting aspiring law students.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Umar Chaudhry confirmed that the university will soon release an official admission notice for the newly added seats. He emphasized that the admissions process will remain strictly merit-based, ensuring fairness and transparency in the selection of candidates.
Each year, GCU’s law faculty attracts thousands of applications from across the country, making admission highly competitive. The increase in seats aims to accommodate more deserving students who aspire to build careers in the legal profession. Dr. Chaudhry expressed optimism that the expanded program will help meet the rising demand for quality legal education while maintaining the institution’s high academic standards.
“Our goal is to provide more talented students the opportunity to pursue legal studies at GCU,” Dr. Chaudhry said. “We are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of skilled legal professionals who will contribute positively to Pakistan’s judicial system.”
The additional seats will enable the university to broaden access to its respected law curriculum, which combines theoretical knowledge with practical training. Graduates of GCU’s law program have historically played influential roles within the country’s legal community, including judiciary, advocacy, and public service sectors.
Dr. Chaudhry also highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance its academic offerings and facilities, underlining the importance of producing graduates capable of addressing contemporary legal challenges. The expansion aligns with GCU’s broader mission to foster academic excellence and social responsibility among its students.
The university encourages prospective applicants to prepare for the upcoming admissions cycle and stay updated on official announcements. With the increased seats, more students will now have the chance to join one of Pakistan’s leading institutions for legal education.
