The announcement was made via a joint Instagram post by the film’s lead actors and team, reigniting excitement among fans across the country.

“Agli mulaqat ka intezar rahay ga… Neelofar — This winter,” read the caption of the post, hinting at an emotional and heartfelt cinematic experience. The announcement marks the official end of a long wait that began when the film wrapped up shooting in December 2020.

Directed and written by Ammar Rasool, Neelofar brings back the iconic on-screen pairing of Fawad and Mahira, last seen together in the cult classic Humsafar. Though the film has remained shrouded in mystery, the little that has been shared suggests it’s an emotional drama, with Mahira playing the role of a visually impaired woman.

The production, like many others, was stalled in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic brought the entertainment industry to a halt. At the time, Mahira Khan had expressed frustration over the delay, sharing that only ten days of shooting were left when lockdowns were imposed.

In a heartfelt social media post as filming wrapped up, Mahira reflected on her journey with the character:

“I take with me a piece of you […] leaving a bit of my soul with you. My darling Neelofar, I shall miss you, oh so much.”
The post, which has since been removed from her Instagram, hinted at the personal connection she formed with the role.

She also praised the dedication of the film’s cast and crew:

“Everyone put their heart and soul into it. Can’t wait for all of you to see our hard work and love on your screens soon. Ameen!”

Last year, Fawad Khan also gave fans a glimmer of hope during a public appearance, stating that Neelofar was in its final stages of post-production and would be released soon.
