Naseeruddin Shah is known for speaking his mind in his Facebook post he defended Diljit Dosangh for co-starring with Pakistani actress Hania Amir; however, on the morning of July 1, 2025, he deleted his post, which caused many to troll him online across different platforms. Users on X (formerly Twitter) trolled him and called his move a “U-turn”.

“So, Naseeruddin Shah has deleted his post. But only from social media, not from his mind. He never supported Bharat and never will,” captioned the user who had taken a screenshot of the post Naseerudin Shah deleted.

Another wrote, “Maybe he remembered where the money comes from.” Others chimed in with comments like, “He got scared,” and “They only speak when they think they have public backing!”

#NaseeruddinShah quickly started going viral with users mocking him.

On June 30, 2025, Sarfarosh actor Naseeruddin Shah came out in support of Diljit Dosangh against the backlash he was facing from extremists in India for co-starring with Hania Amir in his most recent and popular movie, Saardiji 3.

“I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The dirty tricks dept. of the Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they’ve got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film; the director was.”  Said Naseeruddin Shah on his now-deleted Facebook post.

Shah emphasised the fact that Diljit is just an actor in the film; he had nothing to do with the casting. Furthermore, he praised Diljit for not going into politics and keeping an open mind.

He added “……Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned. What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever I feel like it.” Although the post has been deleted, screenshots of it have been trending across all social media platforms.

After deleting his Facebook post, Shah posted a quote from scientist and philosopher Georg Christoph Lichtenberg: "It is almost impossible to carry the torch of truth through a crowd without singeing somebody s beard."

Naseeruddin Shah not only faced criticism from users online but also from Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam, who condemned Shah for supporting actor Diljit. He said that Shah was “insensitive” and had hurt Indians across India and demanded a public apology.

Ram Kadam specifically targeted Naseeruddin Shah for his line. “He was not responsible for the casting of the film; the director was.” To which Ram Kadam said, “He was not responsible for the casting of the film; the director was. But no one knows who he is, whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned.”

Ram Kadam defended Diljit’s reputation by saying he is known worldwide, whereas the director is a nobody; he had a say in the film.

Furthermore, Naseeruddin Shah concluded his post by saying, "My response to those who will say,  Go to Pakistan,  is,  Go to Kailasa. "

To which, while addressing the media Ram Kadam reacted sharply and stated, “Who told you to go to Pakistan? Kailasa is our sacred land; it is Shiv Bhoomi, a place of Sanatan culture. Why is Naseeruddin Shah equating it with Pakistan?" Kadam asked.

He further condemned Shah and added, “Has he forgotten the Pahalgam attack? Has he forgotten that Pakistan is India’s sworn enemy? Is his love for Pakistan greater than his love for India? Those who lost their families in terror attacks — has he ever spoken for them?"

“Naseeruddin Shah has insulted our brave soldiers; he has insulted crores of Hindus and the sanctity of Kailasa. This is nothing but a stunt to stay relevant in the headlines. He must fold his hands and apologise." Said Ram Kaddam

Moreover, Ashoke Pandit in an interview with ANI commented on Naseeruddin Shah’s post, saying, “We are not surprised or shocked by Naseeruddin Shah s response to Diljit Dosanjh’s entire episode. He calls us the ‘Jumla Party’ and ‘goons’. A respected, educated, versatile actor like him resorting to such language reflects his frustration and restlessness.”

Just like Ram Kadam, Ashoke spoke on how Diljit is an actor and can choose who he stars with: “I would like to remind Naseeruddin Shah that Diljit is an actor. He could have chosen to refuse working with Pakistani actors.”

Pandit added, “It s unfortunate that I, on behalf of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), have to explain the real situation between India and Pakistan to someone like him. For the last 50 years, Pakistan has been attacking India—through acts of terrorism, violence, and bloodshed. From Pahalgam to Pulwama, from Uri to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks—Pakistan has been responsible. It is, undeniably, a terror state.”

At the end, Pandit stated that “Let me tell you, Naseer sahab, we have taken a decision to issue a non-cooperation notice against Diljit, and it has already been implemented.”

It is important to note that Ram Kadam has issued a warning against Diljit, telling him to stay away from those who are against “Maa Bharti".

Earlier, popular film director Imtiaz Ali praised Diljit Dosangh for not faking his beliefs.

Saardji 3 continues to spark debates all over India with a range of opinions dividing users and the entertainment industry.
