Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour loses all opening acts after Macklemore controversy
Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham and Irish band Beoga have all announced their departures from the tour following Macklemore’s removal from the US shows, because of his Free Palestine remarks.
The Ed Sheeran Loop Tour had featured several artists as opening acts across its North American and upcoming South American dates.
The withdrawals came after Macklemore was removed from the US leg following his public support for Palestinians and comments made during his performances.
Finneas announces his exit
Finneas was among the artists who confirmed that he would no longer perform on the Ed Sheeran Loop Tour.
The singer said artists should not be silenced when they speak about oppressed people. He announced that he would withdraw from his upcoming dates with Ed Sheeran.
Finneas was scheduled to appear with Sheeran during several South American shows.
His decision added another layer to the Ed Sheeran Macklemore controversy, which has quickly spread beyond Macklemore’s own removal.
More artists follow
Aaron Rowe and Lukas Graham have also announced that they are leaving the Ed Sheeran Loop tour.
Beoga, Sheeran’s backing band, also confirmed its departure from the tour.
The four acts expressed support for Macklemore and concerns about artists being able to speak publicly about political and humanitarian issues.

The Ed Sheeran Loop Tour has therefore lost its previously announced opening acts following the developments.

Why was Macklemore removed?
Macklemore was removed from the US leg after making pro-Palestinian remarks during performances, including saying “Free Palestine” during a September 4 concert in New Jersey.
According to Sheeran, the decision was not made by him.
Sheeran said the tour’s promoter made the decision after venues indicated that they could cancel shows if Macklemore remained on the lineup.
Macklemore had previously suggested that pressure from venue owners played a role in his removal from the tour.

Sheeran responds
Sheeran has said that he tried to resolve the situation and does not want his concerts to become political platforms.
He also said he respects Macklemore as an artist but explained that the decision to remove him was made by promoters and venues.
