Web Desk: The Lahore Court LHC has ordered that Ali Zafar defamation case against Meesha Shafi will now be decided by the trial court within 30 days.

The high-profile Ali Zafar defamation case was filed in 2018 after Meesha Shafi publicly accused the singer of sexual harassment on social media. Zafar claimed the allegations damaged his reputation and sought Rs1 billion in damages.

Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad of the LHC upheld the trial court’s 2019 ruling, which barred Shafi from issuing statements against Zafar across all media, including social platforms. The court called the original ruling “well-reasoned” and based on “sound legal principles.”

According to sources, the Ali Zafar defamation case report also highlighted that discretionary orders, such as interim injunctions, should not be overturned unless proven arbitrary, perverse, or illegal.

The trial court now has 30 days to finalize the matter. Experts say the ruling accelerates the resolution of this long-standing legal dispute and may set a precedent for how social media allegations are handled in court, according to the Ali Zafar defamation case documents.
