Web Desk: Jack Antonoff has reacted to his split from Margaret Qualley with an unexpected joke after a fan asked him to perform their former wedding song during his Los Angeles concert.

Fan makes an awkward request

Jack Antonoff found himself in an awkward but funny moment during a recent Bleachers concert in Los Angeles.

During his September 15 performance at the Troubadour, a fan asked him to sing “Let’s Get Married”, a song that later became associated with Antonoff’s wedding to Margaret Qualley.

The request came at a rather uncomfortable time following the Margaret Qualley split, which became public earlier this year.

Antonoff’s response was short and immediately caught the crowd’s attention.

“Absolutely not,” he said with a laugh before adding, “Read the news, brother.” The crowd quickly erupted into laughter.

Antonoff still loves the song

Although Antonoff did not want to perform Let’s Get Married, he made it clear that he still has affection for the track.

The musician said he “love[s] that song” and explained that he wrote it around 11 years ago.

The Bleachers frontman also clarified that the song was written long before he met Qualley.

The song was released in 2017, while the couple began dating several years later.

Because of its connection with their relationship, the track became widely known as the Jack Antonoff wedding song, even though its original meaning was different.

The unusual moment has now brought fresh attention to Let’s Get Married and its history.

What happened between the couple?

The Margaret Qualley split came after the couple had been together for several years.

Antonoff and Qualley began dating in 2021 and became engaged in 2022. They married in New Jersey in August 2023.

News of their separation became public in July 2026, less than three years after their wedding.

A representative for Qualley later rejected reports suggesting trust problems or infidelity, saying there were no such issues and asking the public to respect their privacy.

The Margaret Qualley split has since attracted considerable attention because both stars have continued with their professional work.

Qualley is currently promoting her film projects, while Antonoff is continuing his tour with Bleachers.

Why the song became so awkward

The Jack Antonoff wedding song label became attached to Let’s Get Married because the track was used during the couple’s wedding celebrations.

However, Antonoff has previously explained that he actually wrote the song years before meeting Qualley.

The Bleachers track therefore had a meaning that went beyond his later relationship.

Antonoff’s concert response has now created another chapter in the story of Let’s Get Married.

The Jack Antonoff wedding song became an unexpected concert request, turning what could have been a normal audience interaction into a viral moment.

A very public reaction

The Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff split has mostly been handled privately by the former couple.

Antonoff’s brief response at the Troubadour, however, offered one of his clearest public acknowledgements of the separation so far.

The Bleachers singer did not discuss the reasons behind the breakup.

Instead, he used humour when confronted with a song closely connected to his former marriage.

The Margaret Qualley split has therefore taken an unexpected turn online, with fans focusing on Antonoff’s quick response.

For now, the Jack Antonoff wedding song remains part of his musical catalogue, even if performing it may feel different after the end of the marriage.
