In a surprising turn of events, Sunita Ahuja, the wife of veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, has filed for divorce after 38 years of marriage.

The case has been filed at the Bandra Family Court and cites serious allegations including adultery, cruelty, and desertion under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.

This legal action was taken shortly after Sunita sadly discussed her marital difficulties in a vlog.

She demonstrated her strong confidence in Goddess Kaali when in Mumbai s Mahalaxmi Temple, stating that anyone attempting to destroy her family will be dealt with by the divine.

According to Indian media reports, the court summoned Govinda on May 25, but he has yet to attend any hearings.

Due to his absence, the court issued a show cause notice. Meanwhile, Sunita has been attending all the court sessions and counseling since June 2025.

In her emotional vlog, Sunita spoke about praying for a happy life with Govinda at the same temple decades ago.

She said that while life gave her many blessings, including two children, it also brought challenges.

She firmly believes the Goddess will protect her and her home from harm.

In previous interviews, Sunita disclosed that she and Govinda had been living apart for the past 12 years and that she had been celebrating her birthday alone.

She blamed the split on Govinda s overly gregarious nature and the demands of his job.

Govinda s team acknowledged earlier this year, in February 2025, that Sunita had filed for divorce six months prior, but asserted that the pair had reconciled.

However, at the time, Sunita s side had rejected any plans for a divorce.

There are also rumors that Govinda’s closeness with a 30-year-old Marathi actress may have played a role in their marital issues.

However, a family friend, Lalit Bindal, dismissed the reports and said the couple is still strong and united.

Long-standing private conflicts between Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have come to light as a result of this divorce process.
