Punjab unveils 16-member film city authority board under 2026 act

The new Punjab Film City Authority board has been formed under the Punjab Film City Authority Act 2026, according to an official notification.

The board will begin its responsibilities immediately and will supervise the authority’s projects and future development plans.

Under the notification, the Senior Minister of Punjab has been appointed as the chairperson, while the Minister for Information and Culture will serve as a board member. The Chairman of the Planning and Development Board has been named vice-chairperson.

The Punjab Film City Authority board also includes Members of the Provincial Assembly Sahibzada Muhammad Gazeen Abbasi, Amina Hassan and Sara Ahmed.

Senior officials from the Finance Department, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Information and Culture Department, and the Implementation and Coordination Wing have also been included.

To strengthen Punjab Film City, the government has appointed several well-known personalities from Pakistan’s film and media industry.

These include Nadeem Mandviwala, Vaneza Ahmed, Aitzaz Aslam Chaudhry, Amara S. Gondal and Dr. Fawad Baig, who are expected to contribute their experience to the authority.

According to the notification, the Chief Executive Officer of the authority will serve as the board’s secretary and will coordinate its day-to-day affairs.

Officials believe the Punjab Film City Authority Act 2026 provides the legal framework needed to modernize the province’s film sector.

The government says Punjab Film City is expected to become a major centre for filmmaking, digital media and entertainment.

Officials hope the initiative will attract investment, create employment opportunities and encourage local and international film productions.

The Punjab Film City Authority Act 2026 is also expected to support long-term growth of Pakistan’s creative industry.
