The development marks the latest chapter in a public split that began in March 2026, when Rajab Butt confirmed during a podcast appearance that he intended to divorce Emaan Fatima, followed shortly after by a formal divorce notice.
Emaan shared that notice on Instagram at the time, writing that she had stayed silent to protect the relationship despite what she described as false allegations made against her.
In the months since, the couple's relationship has swung between reports of reconciliation and renewed conflict. In July, Emaan's brother, Aoun Sheikh, publicly claimed the two had reconciled and resolved their divorce matter, a claim neither Rajab nor Emaan confirmed directly at the time.

Rajab Butt later moved to firmly dismiss the reconciliation rumours, stating in a live session that the divorce was final and that no friendship remained between the two.
He said a bouquet exchanged between the families should not be read as a sign of reconciliation, adding that the separation was not something to be treated lightly.
He also said at the time that he intended to fulfil his legal and parental responsibilities toward their son, Kivan, while asserting that Emaan held her own rights as the child's mother. The latest custody notice suggests the question of Kivan's custody arrangement remains formally unresolved between the two parties.
