Ranveer Singh is a well-known Indian film star. He was born on July 6, 1985, in Mumbai. He made his debut movie, Band Baja Barat in 2010. Later on, he worked in several blockbuster movies Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, Gully Boy, Simmba and Ram Leela.
The actor performed at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India in Goa. His energetic tribute to Rajinikanth impressed the audience, but one part of his performance later caused a wave of criticism on social media.
During the event, Rishab Shetty, the director and lead actor of “Kantara Chapter 1”, was also present. Ranveer praised the film and spoke about its character Chaundi, who is linked to the sacred Daiva tradition.
While talking, he casually referred to Chaundi as a “female ghost” and then mimicked the expression on stage.
He crossed his eyes, stuck out his tongue and did a loud scream. Rishab Shetty was seen laughing at the moment, and Ranveer even joked by asking the crowd if they wanted to see him in “Kantara 3”.

However, once the clip went viral, many viewers felt the act was disrespectful. They said the Daiva tradition should not be used for jokes or stage comedy. Some also questioned why Rishab Shetty laughed instead of guiding him.
At the moment, both Ranveer Singh and Rishab Shetty have not shared any official response, leaving fans curious about whether they will address the controversy.
