MUMBAI (Web Desk): Priyanka Chopra shared her excitement after Zohran Mamdani made history by becoming New York City’s youngest and first Muslim mayor.

The 43-year-old actress took to her Instagram Story to celebrate Zohran’s victory, who is the son of acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair. Sharing a screenshot of Zohran’s thank-you message to his supporters, Priyanka wrote, “Congratulations to Zohran Mamdani New York City’s 111th Mayor! History created. Congratulations, Mira Nair.”

Her post instantly drew attention from fans around the world, with many praising her for recognizing this inspiring milestone.

Zohran, an Indian-origin lawmaker, was born in Kampala, Uganda, to director Mira Nair and academic Mahmood Mamdani. At the age of five, he moved with his family to Cape Town, South Africa, and later settled in New York City.

He studied at the Bank Street School for Children and the Bronx High School of Science before completing his degree in Africana Studies at Bowdoin College in 2014.
