Supreme Court gives Rajpal Yadav two weeks
The Supreme Court has given actor Rajpal Yadav another two weeks to meet a financial condition linked to his long-running legal cheque dispute.
The court has asked him to deposit Rs2 crore with the Supreme Court Registry and surrender his passport. The order gives him what the court described as a final opportunity to comply.
The latest development has added fresh pressure in the Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case, which involves a financial dispute with Murli Projects.
The actor’s legal team sought additional time to arrange the required payment. The court, however, expressed concern over previous undertakings that were not fulfilled.
What is the dispute about?
The dispute dates back to financial dealings involving Rajpal Yadav and Murli Projects. According to court records, the complainant had provided Rs5 crore to the parties connected with Yadav, with several agreements later setting out repayment terms.
Several post-dated cheques were subsequently issued. Seven of the cheques were dishonoured because of insufficient funds, resulting in criminal complaints.
The Delhi High Court later upheld Yadav’s conviction in the seven cases and imposed concurrent three-month prison terms, along with financial penalties.
The Rajpal Yadav jail sentence became a major issue after the actor was directed to surrender following repeated difficulties in fulfilling earlier payment commitments.
Court seeks concrete repayment
The Supreme Court’s latest order again puts Rajpal Yadav repayment at the centre of the proceedings.
The court has now given Yadav two weeks to deposit Rs2 crore. His passport must also be surrendered while the matter continues before the court.

The Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case has continued for years, with the courts previously recording multiple agreements and payment undertakings between the parties.

For Murli Projects, the dispute remains focused on recovering the money covered by the agreements and court proceedings.
For Yadav, the issue is also connected to the Rajpal Yadav jail sentence, which remains part of the legal proceedings following the Delhi High Court’s decision.
