Shops and markets get new closing time as notification reveals changes
The move will affect daily shopping routines as most markets will now close earlier. According to details, the district administration reviewed business hours under austerity measures and announced fresh operating rules. Under the new notification, all shops, markets and shopping malls will close at 8 pm throughout the week.
The administration said some important sectors have been given exemptions from the new restriction. These sectors will be allowed to remain open for longer to maintain essential public services.
Pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, dairy shops, sports facilities and IT and call centres will now be allowed to operate until 10 pm. This relaxation has been given to ensure people continue to have access to important services.

The notification also said takeaway and home delivery services will not face any time limit. Restaurants, food outlets and grocery stores will also remain open until 10 pm.
Wedding halls, marquees and other event venues have also been allowed to continue activities until 10 pm. The same rule will apply to private events and gatherings as well.
Officials said the decision is part of an energy-saving and austerity policy in the capital. At the same time, the administration has kept some flexibility in place to reduce inconvenience for citizens.
The new timings are expected to change business activity in Islamabad’s commercial areas. Traders and customers will now closely watch how these rules affect evening shopping and daily routines.
The government wants to save energy without fully disrupting city life. Essential services have been given extra time, which may help balance public convenience and official policy.
