Petrol prices in Pakistan change as diesel becomes more expensive
The changes have been announced by the Ministry of Energy. The notification said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the prices under the government’s pricing mechanism. The new rates apply to petrol and diesel for the current pricing period.
Petrol price gets small reduction
The government has reduced the petrol price by 94 paisas per litre. The price has fallen from Rs325.92 to Rs324.98 per litre.
The reduction is small but gives some relief to petrol consumers. However, the change is unlikely to make a major difference to household transport costs.
Diesel price goes up
The diesel price has increased by 54 paisas per litre. The new diesel price has been set at Rs382.79 per litre, up from Rs382.25.
The increase means diesel users will face a slightly higher cost. The impact may also be felt in transport and other sectors that depend heavily on diesel.
Latest prices follow previous changes
The government had earlier reduced the petrol price by Rs1.70 per litre. At that time, petrol was fixed at Rs325.92 per litre, while diesel was increased by 39 paisas to Rs382.25.
The latest notification has made another small adjustment to both fuels. Petrol has received a minor reduction, while diesel has moved higher.
The latest changes are relatively small and are unlikely to sharply change fuel costs for consumers. Petrol users get limited relief, while diesel users face another increase.
The difference also shows that fuel prices can move in opposite directions during the same revision. Future changes will depend on the government’s pricing mechanism and market conditions.
