Petrol and diesel prices will be fixed every 28 days instead of daily?
People say repeated price hikes are making life more difficult and increasing the cost of living.
Citizens said the continuous rise in fuel prices is pushing inflation even higher. They said their incomes remain limited while household expenses continue to grow, making it harder for families to manage daily needs.
Many people criticised the government, saying it has failed to consider the financial problems faced by ordinary citizens. They urged the authorities to reduce petrol and diesel prices instead of allowing frequent increases.
The demand comes after another increase in petroleum product prices announced by the government. Petrol became more expensive by Rs3.66 per litre, while diesel increased by Rs4.80 per litre.

According to the official notification, the new diesel price has been set at Rs383.86 per litre after the latest increase. The previous diesel price was Rs379.06 per litre.
The price of petrol has risen to Rs335.18 per litre following the latest revision. Earlier, petrol was being sold at Rs331.52 per litre.
The government also increased the price of kerosene oil by Rs2.99 per litre. After the hike, the new kerosene price has reached Rs301.14 per litre.
Fuel prices have increased sharply within a short period. During the last eight days alone, petrol has become costlier by Rs24.82 per litre, while diesel has gone up by Rs60.11 per litre.
Citizens warned that frequent fuel price increases affect transport, food and other essential goods. They believe fixing prices every 28 days would provide greater stability and help people better manage their monthly budgets.
Frequent fuel price changes quickly affect transport and business costs. A longer pricing cycle could make expenses more predictable, but it may also reduce the government’s ability to respond rapidly to changes in global oil prices.
