KARACHI (Web Desk): Gold prices surged Rs42300 in just 48 hours, hitting an all-time high of Rs572862 per tola in the local market on Thursday.

Karachi: Gold prices surge to an all-time high as 24-karat gold jumps to Rs572,862 per tola, shaking the local bullion market.

Gold prices surged sharply in the local market as demand stayed strong and rates moved beyond previous records. Traders said the sudden rise surprised buyers and sellers alike.

The price of 24-karat gold per tola increased by Rs21,200 to reach Rs572,862. At the same time, 10 grams of 24-karat gold rose by Rs18,175 to Rs491,136.

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 22-karat gold went up by Rs16,661 to settle at Rs450,224, according to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.

Silver prices also moved upward. The price of 24-karat silver per tola increased by Rs264 to Rs12,175, while 10 grams of silver rose by Rs227 to Rs10,438.

In the international market, gold prices climbed by $212 to reach $5,505 per ounce, setting a fresh record. Silver prices also increased by $2.64 to $117.0 per ounce, the association reported.

Gold prices are rising fast due to strong global trends. Local rates are following the international market closely. Investors are moving towards safe assets. Buyers may stay cautious in the coming days.
