Electricity bills set to rise as NEPRA approves Rs2.37 per unit increase
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued an official notification confirming the increase. The decision was made under the monthly fuel price adjustment for September 2026.
Higher charges in November bills
According to the notification, the additional charges will be included in electricity bills issued in November. This means consumers will have to pay more for their electricity usage.
K-Electric consumers also affected
The increase will also apply to consumers of K-Electric. As a result, customers receiving electricity from K-Electric will also face higher bills.
CPPA had requested a bigger increase
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs2.56 per unit under the September adjustment. However, NEPRA approved an increase of Rs2.37 per unit, which is Rs0.19 lower than the requested amount.
What does this mean for consumers?
The latest increase will add to the financial pressure on households already dealing with high electricity costs. Consumers will see the impact of the decision in their November bills.
The latest electricity price increase is another challenge for ordinary households. Although NEPRA approved a smaller increase than the CPPA requested, consumers will still have to pay more. The decision also shows how monthly fuel price adjustments continue to affect electricity bills.
