Govt’s reform measures yielding results, says PM Shehbaz

BEIJING: (Suno News) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government’s reform measures have started yielding results as inflation in the food sector has been controlled to a large extent.

He stated these remarks during a meeting with China Export-Import (EXIM) Bank Chairman Dr Wu Fulin. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and others were present during the meeting.

On the occasion, the EXIM Bank chairman lauded the excellent performance of the prime minister, stating that every Pakistani project was a priority for the EXIM Bank.

The prime minister said the Government of Pakistan is taking measures to improve governance, increase tax net, ensure ease of doing business, and attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

He added the EXIM Bank has played an important role in the economic development of Pakistan.

He also said the project to upgrade the Main Railway Line 1 is ready for investment, adding we wish Chinese investment in the rehabilitation project of the Karachi Circular Railway.

He pointed out Pakistan can benefit from China’s experiences to increase the efficiency of its agriculture sector.

He also commended the EXIM Bank’s continuous support to modernise Pakistan’s industries and the agriculture and IT sectors.

The prime minister also told the EXIM Bank chairman that the current account deficit has been reduced and the Public debt has been brought to a more sustainable level.
