Public gets another power shock with Rs4.92 per unit tariff hike

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Monday increased the power tariff by 4.92 per unit, according to a notification.
The tariff has been increased due to February’s fuel adjustment while the new tariff will be changed from consumers in April bills.
After this increase, the consumers will suffer an additional financial burden of about Rs40 billion.
Last week, the government had announced a hike of Rs2 75 per unit in electricity traffic. It said the electricity cost was increased in the second quarter of the current financial year and the additional collections from customers will be made in April, May and June.
