ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The government has announced that it had decreased electricity tariff by Rs3.82 per unit due to adjustments in the fuel prices.

It was announced by Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Leghari on Thursday.

Laghari said that the fuel price adjustments for the current month’s bills have been reduced from Rs7.06 to Rs4.92 per unit. It has resulted in a reduction of Rs2.14 per unit in fuel costs, he added.

The previous fuel price adjustment was Rs4.43 which had now declined to Rs2.75, resulting in a reduction of Rs 1.68 per unit in electricity bills, the minister added.

According to the notification of fuel price adjustments, he said, there had been a decline in power bills compared to the previous month.

Nepra sets the ‘reference tariff’ for the entire year at the beginning of each year, while the Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) determines the cost of electricity generation for one month, he explained. A decrease in fuel prices leads to a reduction in prices for consumers compared to the prescribed tariff by NEPRA, he maintained.
