(Web Desk): Motorcycle buyers in Pakistan are feeling the pinch as fresh taxes push the prices of popular Honda models CD 70 and CG 125 to new highs.

The government has imposed a series of new taxes and levies on petrol-powered bikes. Under the revised pricing structure, Honda motorcycles now carry an 18% Sales Tax along with a 1% Non-Essential Vehicles (N.E.V) Levy, causing price hikes across all variants.

The Honda CD70, previously priced at Rs134,237 ex-factory, now includes Rs24,163 in sales tax and Rs1,500 in N.E.V Levy, bringing its final price to Rs159,900. The popular Honda CG125, after Rs36,040 in sales tax and Rs2,244 in N.E.V Levy, now costs Rs238,500. Meanwhile, the premium CB125F is priced at nearly Rs400,000, with combined taxes of Rs63,595.

Tax Breakdown:

  • CD70: Sales Tax – Rs24,163 | N.E.V Levy – Rs1,500 | Final Price – Rs159,900

  • CG125: Sales Tax – Rs36,040 | N.E.V Levy – Rs2,244 | Final Price – Rs238,500

The steep price increases have sparked concerns among students, delivery riders, and low-income earners, many of whom rely on motorcycles as their primary and most affordable mode of transport.

Industry experts warn that the continued taxation could slow sales in Pakistan’s already fragile motorcycle market, affecting local dealerships and supply chains. Growing voices are urging the government to reconsider the 1% N.E.V levy—particularly on low-engine-capacity bikes that are essential for daily commuting.
