PM orders action as Suno News draws attention to inflated bills

ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) On the report of Suno News, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to immediately suspend the power distribution companies’ officials involved in charging excess units in the electricity bills.

The prime minister while chairing a meeting regarding reforms of Power Sector and Solarization in Islamabad, instructed the FIA to initiate an inquiry against the officials committing accesses by falsely adding extra units to the electricity bill. They should be punished, he directed.

The PM said elements involved in charging excess units in the bills of protected consumers of below 200 units and including them to the unprotected category, should be exposed before the nation.

He further said that the entire world is generating electricity from renewable energy and also Pakistan has immense potential to generate solar energy.

When Suno News highlighted the issue of axcess units, the prime minister ordered immediate action. There is no process detailing how the consumers will be returned the amounts collected through excess units.

Suno News had become the voice of the consumers by conveying their grievances the Prime Minister s House. On which, the prime minister directed the FIA to take action against the officials responsible for charging excess units to the consumers.
