Speaking at the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur during the peace ceremony between Thailand and Cambodia, Trump highlighted his administration’s record of ending conflicts. “I want peace all over the world. My administration has stopped eight wars in eight months, this has never happened before,” he said.
Trump stated he was aware of renewed friction between Pakistan and Afghanistan. “I know both countries well, and I will solve the Pakistan-Afghanistan problems soon, and in a good way,” he remarked.
While expressing faith in the leadership of PM and field marshal of Pakistan, he said “The Prime Minister and the Field Marshal of Pakistan are good people. I have confidence in both of them.”
He stressed that his foreign policy promotes “peace through trade,” not war. “I like to stop wars through trade, we don’t want wars, we want commerce,” Trump said.
The US president hailed the Thailand-Cambodia ceasefire as a “hopeful moment,” saying it could “save millions of lives.” He also signed new trade and minerals agreements with Cambodia and Thailand, underscoring Washington’s renewed engagement in Southeast Asia.
