(Web Desk): The White House has officially created its own account on TikTok despite concerns about a ban and controversial law in the United States.

The move comes as ByteDance, the company that owns the app, faces the threat of selling it to a US buyer or having the app banned in the country.

US President Donald Trump has already extended the deadline for this law several times and now the new deadline is set for September 17. The extension granted in June this year kept the app usable for 170 million American users, even though its Chinese ownership was declared a threat to national security in the law passed last year.

The first post from the official White House account on TikTok includes a video of Trump s speech in which he says, "I am committed to providing a better life for the people of this nation. I am your voice."

The caption of the post reads, "America! We re back, WhatsApp, TikTok?" Within hours of the account s launch, it had more than 20,000 followers.

It is important to mention here that this is the first official TikTok account from a US administration, although both President Trump and former President Joe Biden used TikTok during their 2024 election campaigns.

Interestingly, both leaders have previously repeatedly called the app a threat to American security.
