(Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has labeled Qatar as an "American ally of the United States" while advising Israel to "be very careful" in its relations with Doha.

Addressing reporters at Morristown Airport in New Jersey, Trump stated that Israel s security fears were legitimate but cautioned that its actions would not harm ties with Qatar mentioning Israeli strikes on Doha.

“My message is that they have to be very, very careful. They have to do something about Hamas, but Qatar has been a wonderful ally to the United States," Trump said.

The president also eulogized Qatar s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as a "wonderful person" and said he had recently invited Qatar s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani for dinner in New York, days after the widely criticized strike.

The September 9 air strikes hit the homes of Hamas officials in the Qatari capital of Doha, killing several individuals, including civilians, and wounding some others.

Qatar s prime minister condemned the attack as a "gross infringement upon sovereignty and international law," calling on the world to put an end to "double standards" and hold Israel responsible. "It is time for the international community to punish Israel for its crimes against humanity," he asserted at a preparatory meeting of an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha.
