ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has claimed that PTI founder Imran Khan has received an invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of newly elected US President Donald Trump.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Salman Akram Raja stated, "Twenty of our people, including PTI founder Imran Khan, have been invited to attend Trump’s inauguration. Some of our party members will be attending the event."

The PTI leader made this claim when Imran Khan has been sentenced to 14 years in prison while a seven-year jail term handed to his spouse Bushra Bibi in the £190m Al-Qadir Trust case on Friday.

The verdict was announced by Judge Nasir Javed Rana in a makeshift courtroom at Adiala Jail. The court also imposed fine amounting to Rs1 million on Imran and Rs500,000 on Bushra.

According to the verdict, property of the “sham trust ‘Al-Qadir University Project Trust’ is hereby forfeited to the Federal Government within the meaning of Section 10(a) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999”.

The verdict reads: “Both the convicts are present before the Court, they be taken into custody in this case and be handed over to the Superintendent Jail along with the Committal Warrant to serve the sentences so awarded,” it added.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan addressed the media at the Islamabad High Court and spoke about the media’s interaction with the jail court. She said, "If the media reports something that displeases the authorities, they may not be allowed access inside the court."

Aleema Khan further commented, "At this moment, only the winds are changing direction. The credit should go to the PTI founder, who is facing all these cases. He has placed his full trust in the judges. If the judges deliver justice, the truth will come to light." She added, "This is not a test for the PTI founder; it s a test for the judiciary."

She also noted, "If there were no possibility of acquittal, the decision would have been delivered earlier. There was nothing in this case to begin with."
