ABU DHABI (Web Desk): The UAE has introduced strict penalties for residents who shelter or employ undocumented migrants, warning that such actions can pose serious security risks.

According to Gulf News, “infiltrators may engage in illegal activities that threaten public security or bypass regulatory authorities,” making the crackdown a key security measure.

Federal Law No 29 of 2021 on the Entry and Residence of Foreigners imposes fines starting from Dh100,000 and reaching up to Dh5 million for cases involving multiple offenders or organised networks. A minimum imprisonment of two months is also applicable.

The law applies to anyone offering work, accommodation, or other support that helps undocumented individuals stay in the UAE illegally. Authorities stress that visas must be used only for their intended purposes, such as tourism or employment.

Violating visa rules, such as working on a tourist visa, carries fines of Dh10,000. Forging documents or misusing residency credentials can lead to punishments of up to 10 years in prison.

Officials highlighted that enforcing these laws is essential to prevent security threats, maintain societal stability, and protect both citizens and residents.

On November 27, Additional Interior Secretary Salman Chaudhry revealed that the UAE has temporarily stopped issuing visas to Pakistani passport holders, except for blue and diplomatic passports. Saudi Arabia and the UAE, however, have not imposed a full ban on Pakistani travelers.

Chaudhry warned that if a visa ban were implemented, removing it would be very difficult, underlining the importance of compliance with current regulations.
