UAE drivers black points reduction: How motorists can remove four points from licence?
Day Without Accidents offers motorists a chance to clear four points
The annual Day Without Accidents campaign will take place on August 31, coinciding with the start of the new school year.
Organised by the Federal Traffic Council in coordination with police forces across the UAE, the campaign aims to encourage safer driving and reduce traffic violations.
How drivers can register
Registration opens on August 17, 2026, through a link shared on the Ministry of Interior’s official social media account.
Drivers can scan the QR code in the campaign post and sign in using UAE Pass. They must agree to the safety commitments, sign the campaign pledge and follow its terms and conditions.
After selecting “I agree”, participants will receive a certificate through the email connected to their UAE Pass.
The UAE black points initiative requires drivers to maintain safe distances, give way to pedestrians, wear seat belts and follow speed limits.
Drivers must also avoid using mobile phones while driving, give priority to emergency vehicles and stay within designated lanes.

Four points can be removed
Motorists who meet all the campaign requirements can qualify for a four black points reduction from their driving record.
The initiative also asks drivers to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before using them.
The campaign is particularly important as August 31 marks the beginning of the new school year. Traffic is expected to become heavier around schools and residential areas.
Authorities have urged motorists to drive patiently and remain alert around children, pedestrians and school buses.
What are black points?
Black points are penalties added to a UAE driving licence after certain traffic violations.
A driver can accumulate between four and 24 black points. If a motorist reaches 24 points and commits another violation, the case can be referred to the UAE courts, where the licence may be suspended or confiscated.

Violations that can carry four black points include using a handheld mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seat belt, driving against traffic and failing to maintain a safe distance.
Other offences include dangerous reversing, sudden swerving, expired vehicle registration, expired tyres and driving without proper lights at night or in fog.
